Summer Confrence Charter
Dr. David Ross
The Fischler School of Education and Human Services (FSEHS) held another successful summer conference at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and NSU’s Student Educational Center in Orlando, Florida during the first week of July. Our Provost, Dr. H. Wells Singleton, and Executive Dean, Dr. Maryellen Maher, welcomed all participants to the conference which was focused on “Global Leadership, Learning, and Research.” Hundreds of doctoral students in the beginning stage of their graduate studies appeared eager and committed to learn from their faculty and advisors, as well as partake in opening and closing keynote sessions, conference presentations, and dissertation workshops. The students also had the opportunity to attend required roundtable sessions to discuss their dissertation topics, receiving feedback from a faculty member as well as their peers.
During some sessions of the conference, students were introduced to many areas of study, including Charter School Administration. Early into their degree program is when they can choose what minor they would like their concentration. In the past several months, FSEHS, has been developing a new doctoral minor in Charter School Administration under either an Organizational Leadership or Educational Leadership degree program. At this time, the minor degree has been forward to the Vice President for Academic Affairs Office for final approval. The course structure contains 18 hours in the following areas: School Business Management, Facility Operations, Assessment and Curriculum, Governance, and Parental Choice. We are excited to unveil the first online doctorate program in Charter School Administration in the United States. |
